We're happy to feature our second home roaster from MCL: JayC. In such a short time, his brand GWO has become well sought-after in both the MCL and EAF communities.
The Roaster's Leap: Featuring JayC and GWO
Jayesh (better known as JayC) is a well-known username across Mystery Coffee League and Espresso Afficinado.
Like many great coffee connections, I first got to know JayC through one of my early split campaigns. We often had casual chats, but there was one problem: it was almost impossible to trigger his FOMO in buying larger amounts of coffee from me. I could never tempt him with a new split because his coffee backlog was always full!
From Backlog to Brand
The mystery of the perpetual backlog was soon solved: JayC had taken the leap, to roast his own coffee!
Around June of this year, he approached me, looking for feedback on his roasts. As someone who loves getting coffee and is always eager to try new things, it was an opportunity I immediately accepted.
Among the samples, the one that stood out was the Edinson Argote. I described it as a highly aromatic, "floral lemonade," and it instantly became one of the most memorable cups I’ve had all year. It was vibrant, complex, and showcased true roasting talent.
A No-Brainer for the Calendar
When MSA and I began planning the Advent Calendar, we knew we wanted to feature a couple of special coffees from the talented home roasters within the MCL community. JayC, who had just recently launched his own brand, was my immediate first choice.
Our planning suddenly hit a perfect stride when a deal for the Edinson Argote green beans landed in JayC’s inbox. Including that iconic, floral-forward coffee in the calendar became an absolute no-brainer.
We are incredibly grateful and excited to feature JayC’s brand, GWO, in this calendar, giving you a chance to experience the exceptional Edinson Argote for yourself. JayC represents the highest aspiration of our community—turning passion into something truly special.
