We started Helm to spread the love of great coffee through kindness and connection, because we believe world-class coffee and a welcoming door belong together. Specialty coffee shouldn't be intimidating. It should be a catalyst: for curiosity, for connection, for showing up differently in the world.
At Helm, we want to help you be at the helm of your own life, full of authenticity, courage, and readiness for whatever comes next. We believe a great cup of coffee and the right community can help you get there.
Big Sur
Big Sur Coffee is a specialty coffee roastery based in Shanghai, China since 2016.
We emphasize the quality of green beans. Green beans are to coffee what ingredients are to food. High quality green beans are the foundation of a good cup of coffee. Therefore, we go deep into origins, have a direct dialogue with producers and estate owners, and purchase high-quality green beans that can best represent the terroir through direct trade.

We are a team of coffee professionals roasting in one of the industrial hold-outs of Toronto, Canada.
Our aim is to push the boundaries of coffee quality, not for some dilettante or aesthetic occupation, and not for ego or self satisfaction. We believe in engaging with higher quality coffee as an alternative to the anonymization and commodification that has characterized the mainstream treatment of coffee throughout history.

Founded by Kyle Rowsell in Ottawa, this roastery prioritizes technical clarity and terroir. Using a Loring S15 Falcon, they highlight vibrant acidity and natural sweetness through precision roasting. Their dual-series philosophy—the sparkling, ultra-light "Shower Series" and the textured, balanced "Storm Series"—ensures a transparent cup for every palate. This commitment to education and craftsmanship offers a sophisticated experience that balances modern roasting science with the genuine soul of high-end coffee.
